Bride's Wedding Night 'Gift' Leaves Groom Stunned—Flees With Cash and Jewelry

Cases of fraud in the name of marriage continue to surface across the country, and yet another shocking incident has come to light from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. A newlywed bride tricked her groom into drinking an intoxicant on their wedding night and then escaped in the darkness, taking with her cash, gold, and silver jewelry.
Groom Paid ₹2 Lakh for Marriage
The incident occurred in the Mundaria Bara area, where 35-year-old Jaiveer had been searching for a bride. His family was approached by Suresh Meel and Jaiprakash, who claimed to know a suitable match named Sangeeta Kumari from Arjanpur, Bihar. They demanded ₹2 lakh to arrange the marriage. After showing Sangeeta’s photo and sending her Aadhaar details via WhatsApp, they facilitated the wedding.
Bride Disappears on March 5
Jaiveer brought his new bride home with dreams of a happy married life. However, on the night of March 5, Sangeeta mixed an intoxicant in his drink, waited for him to lose consciousness, and then fled with jewelry, ₹1 lakh in cash, and other valuables.
Police Investigation Underway
The distraught groom reported the incident to the Bhadra police, who have now registered a case against both Suresh Meel and the so-called bride, Sangeeta Kumari. Investigations are ongoing to track down the accused and uncover any larger fraud racket at play.
