Both of them agreed to it mutually… Pune rape accused's lawyer claims, the court sent him to police custody for 14 days.

Dattatreya Gade, the accused of raping a 26-year-old girl inside a bus at Swargate bus station in Pune, has been sent to police custody till March 12. He was arrested by Pune Police from Shirur Tehsil of Pune around midnight on Friday, after which he was produced in Pune Court. The police have sought custody of the accused for 14 days from the court for investigation. Meanwhile, the accused's lawyer has claimed that both (accused and victim) had physical relations with mutual consent.

Rape accused Dattatreya Gade's lawyer has claimed that CCTV footage shows the victim going inside the bus on her own. However, the public prosecutor has told the court that 6 cases have been registered against the accused, of which 5 have female complainants. The accused's girlfriend had also told the police that Dattatreya Gade had harassed many young women. He used to ask for the mobile numbers of her friends as well.

13 police teams searched

Rape accused Dattatreya was declared a fugitive by the police. A reward of one lakh rupees was announced to him. The police had converted his village Gunata into a police cantonment for his arrest. The police searched for the accused with the help of drones and dog squads. 13 police teams were engaged in his search. The villagers had told that Dattatreya Gade had come to the village after the incident. He had asked for water at Gade's house, drank it, and went away. The police arrested the accused from Shirur tehsil late Friday night, 72 hours after the incident.

The victim girl was waiting for a bus to go home at Swargate bus station. Meanwhile, the accused Dattatreya Gade deceived her and took her inside a bus. He raped the girl and fled. The victim left for home on another bus. She informed her friend about this. After which the information was given to the police. The police registered a case and checked the CCTV cameras installed at the bus station. In which the accused is seen taking the victim to the bus.
