It is being considered an important decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party just before the assembly elections. Satish Poonia has been removed from this post after having a tenure of three years. It is believed that in view of the upcoming assembly elections, this type of step has been taken by the BJP to help the Brahmin vote bank.

Although the central leadership of the BJP has not announced the name of any leader for the Leader of the Opposition. No one has been appointed to the post since Gulab Chand Kataria was made the Governor of Assam.
