If you take medicine to lose weight, it can even take your life. Something similar happened with Furkan Pehlwan (40), district vice president of Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan, who lives in Mata Colony, Baghpat. He ordered medicine online after seeing an advertisement on a social site to lose weight. After taking that medicine, his kidneys got damaged and he died on Sunday.

Furkan's weight started increasing, and his stomach started bulging. He saw an advertisement for a weight loss medicine on social media and ordered the medicine six months ago. After taking the medicine for about a month, his weight started reducing rapidly, but its adverse effects were visible on his body. When he had pain in his stomach, his family members got him some medicine. When he did not get relief from it, they took him to AIIMS in Delhi.

Furkan's brother Irfan said that on examination there, the doctors told him that he had taken some wrong medicines. After this, Furkan said that he had ordered medicines online to lose weight and had taken them, and then the doctors said that the same medicine had damaged his kidneys. Furkan has been undergoing treatment for the last several months, but his condition has not improved. Dialysis was also started but that too did not help. Furkan died on Sunday.

Furkan held many positions in SP, leaders came to express condolences

Furkan Pehlwan earlier held the positions of city president and district secretary in SP. On learning about his death, chairman Rajuddin, RLD leader Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, SP district president Ravindra Yadav, former district president Billu Pradhan, Akil Rajput, Wasim Khokhar, Dr. Sharafat Ali, Mahfooz Pehlwan etc. came to express condolences.

Weight is reduced by improving diet and exercise, not by medicines.

District hospital physician Dr Deepak Kumar said that one should never take medicines by seeing tempting advertisements on social media. One should first consult a doctor and only then take any medicine. He says that medicines do not reduce weight. Weight can be reduced by improving diet and exercise. According to him, it is possible that Furkan developed thyroid because of taking the medicine and when his weight reduced rapidly, he kept taking more medicine. This caused kidney problems. Therefore, do not take medicines like this without consulting a doctor.
