Ayushman Bharat Yojana: Good news, now treatment up to 15 lakhs will be free with an Ayushman card, government is preparing for big changes
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, every family gets an insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh. The government is planning to increase it to Rs 10 lakh. Along with this, increasing the insurance coverage for women to Rs 15 lakh is also being considered.
Ayushman Bharat Scheme
The central government is preparing to make major changes in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, also known as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. This scheme aims to provide better health services to the poor and low-income group people, so that they do not face financial difficulties for the treatment of serious diseases. Now the government is thinking of increasing the insurance cover available under this scheme, so that more and more people can benefit from it.
Plan to increase insurance cover
Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, every family gets an insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh. The government is planning to increase it to Rs 10 lakh . Along with this, there is also a consideration to increase the insurance coverage for women to Rs 15 lakh . Its purpose is to provide more health security to women, which is an important need of our society.
Preparations to increase the number of beneficiaries
The government is preparing to increase the number of beneficiaries of this scheme from 55 crores to 100 crores. For this, there is a plan to add 4 lakh new beds in private hospitals across the country, so that more and more people can get good health services. Currently, 7.22 lakh beds are available under this scheme, which is targeted to be increased to 9.32 lakh by 2026-27 and 11.12 lakh by 2028-29.
According to the report of the Group of Secretaries
The Group of Secretaries (GoS) has submitted a report to improve and expand this scheme. This report has set targets and timelines for achieving them for the next five years. This GoS includes nine ministries including Health, AYUSH, Sports, Culture, and Education. Soon a presentation will be given on this scheme in front of the Cabinet Secretary, in which these reforms will be discussed to finalize them.
How many people have taken advantage so far?
Till June 30, 7.37 crore people have been admitted to hospitals and got treatment under this scheme. Women have also benefited a lot from this scheme, as about 49 percent of the total Ayushman card holders are women and 48 percent of those admitted to hospitals are women.

To avail of the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, it is necessary to get an Ayushman Health Card. The name of the person applying for this should be in the SECC-2011 list and his age should be more than 18 years. Once the application is approved, a health card is issued, so that the person can avail the health services under this scheme.
These proposed changes of the government are to make the Ayushman Bharat scheme even more effective, so that the poor and the underprivileged can also avail good health services. This is a big step not only in the health sector but also in the field of social justice.
