Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal could not get relief from the court in the excise case. On Wednesday, the Rouse Avenue Court rejected his interim bail plea. After hearing both the parties, the court had reserved the decision on this on June 1 itself.

Special Judge Kaveri Baveja of Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday rejected Arvind Kejriwal's bail plea. Arvind Kejriwal had filed a petition in the court and appealed to extend the interim bail, for which he had cited health reasons. ASG SV Raju on behalf of ED opposed this. ED had told at that time that he was seeking bail on medical grounds, while he was campaigning in Punjab.

surrendered on 2 June

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on 21 March in a corruption case related to the Delhi liquor policy. He was sent to judicial custody on 1 April. Later, the Supreme Court granted him bail on 10 May for election campaigning. While granting bail, he was asked to surrender on 2 June. Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal had filed a petition for interim bail, on which the decision was reserved after a hearing on 1 June.

Kejriwal had approached the Supreme Court

Before the surrender date came closer, Kejriwal had approached the Supreme Court. In this, Kejriwal had appealed to the court to extend the interim bail by one week. He had cited his poor health in the court, but the Supreme Court has rejected his appeal. After getting a setback from the Supreme Court, Kejriwal filed a petition in the Rouse Avenue Court, which was rejected.
