Cold wave has increased the chill in Delhi-NCR. The weather department has issued an alert of rain in many states of the country in the next 2 days. There is also a possibility of dense fog and cold day. Fishermen have been advised to stay away from the beaches.
Weather Update IMD Forecast: The weather across the country is about to change. A new western disturbance is going to become active, due to its effect the weather will change tonight on 21st January and rain is forecast in 10 states including Delhi-NCR in the next 2 days. There is continuous snowfall in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, due to which the icy winds have caused cold wave havoc till Delhi.
There is a possibility of snowfall in Himachal Pradesh today, tomorrow and the day after. There may be lightning along with stormy winds in Haryana, Rajasthan. There may be heavy rain with thunderstorms in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan. The minimum temperature in Gujarat-Rajasthan may fall by 2 to 3 degrees. Delhi has its hottest winter day after 6 years
According to the Meteorological Department, the cold wave in Delhi-NCR has increased the chill, but the sunshine during the day is also making people feel warm. Rain alert in these states
According to IMD, a western disturbance is active in the form of cyclonic circulation in northern Pakistan and lower troposphere. A cyclonic circulation is forming over western Rajasthan. Another western disturbance is going to be active at 5.8 km above sea level. Due to its effect, there is a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region from 21 to 23 January today, tomorrow and day after tomorrow. There may be hailstorms along with thunder and lightning.
There is a possibility of lightning and rain in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh on January 22 and 23. A cyclonic circulation is strengthening at the mid-troposphere level over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Sri Lanka. Due to this, north-easterly winds are blowing on the Tamil Nadu coast. Till January 23, light to moderate rain will occur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep.

Fog and cold day warning
According to the IMD, dense fog is likely in the morning and evening over Rajasthan on January 23 and 24, East Uttar Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab on January 23 and 24, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal on January 23 and 24. Cold day conditions are likely over parts of Himachal Pradesh on January 23. Fishermen are advised not to venture into Comorin area and adjoining Gulf of Mannar today and tomorrow. Also avoid going into South Sri Lanka and South West Bay of Bengal.
