There will be no water, electricity shortage in Rajasthan: CM Ashok Gehlot

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Friday that despite the geographical conditions, there will be no shortage of water and electricity in Rajasthan due to efficient management of the state government.

Providing water to the villages is the first priority of the government. After reviewing the works of Energy, PHED, Disaster Management and Relief, MGNREGA and Gopalan departments, he said that it would be ensured that people do not face any problem in drinking water.

According to a statement, Gehlot said that the top officials should visit different areas to inspect the water and power supply system. He said that he should talk to the people and solve their problems on the spot.

The Chief Minister said that his government would ensure that there was no shortage of drinking water in any district and directed the officials to supply water through tankers on local demand.

Gehlot said that Rs 50 lakh has been provided to all district collectors for emergency works, so that repair of hand pumps, water supply from tankers and digging of tube wells can be done immediately.

He said that regular power supply should be ensured in the state and directed the officials to keep additional generators and transformers ready to meet any emergency.

He also appealed to the people not to waste water and electricity.

The Chief Minister directed the District Collectors to start working hours under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA) from 6 am to provide relief to the workers from the scorching heat.

In a meeting to review the law and order situation in the state, Gehlot said that his government has a policy of zero tolerance towards crime.
