Shraddha Walker murder: Who is love jihad accused Aftab Poonawalla, who has 28000 followers on Instagram!
Shraddha Walker's father Vikas Walker has demanded the death penalty for Aftab Poonawalla, accused of killing his girlfriend in Delhi's Mehrauli area. They also accused him of 'love jihad' against the woman. Walker and Poonawalla were in a relationship for the past two years. Their families were against this relationship as they believed in different religions. "I suspect this is the angle of love jihad. We demand the death penalty for Aftab," he told the media. Walker said that Shraddha was not speaking with him and was close to her uncle. He also revealed that he never spoke with Aftab Poonawalla.
Who was Aftab Poonawala?
Aftab Poonawalla is a resident of Maharashtra. He met Shraddha Walker in 2019 through a dating application. They fell in love. Later they worked together in a call center. Poonawalla and Walker shifted to Delhi as their families were against their relationship.
Aftab was a food blogger. He used to upload his videos on Instagram and he has a lot of followers. He is followed by 28,000 people on social media. However, he hasn't uploaded any new videos in the last few months. He has not been active on social media.
Poonawalla had allegedly killed the woman at his rented flat in Delhi on May 18. After this, he cut the woman's body into pieces and threw it piece by piece for two months.
The couple loved to travel. In March-April, he went to Himachal Pradesh and met a man living in Chhatarpur, Delhi. Initially, they stayed at his house. Later he rented a flat in the Mehrauli area.
Police are probing the case from a conspiracy point of view.
Aftab is a graduate and lives in Mumbai with his family. After killing her, Aftab allegedly searched Google for words like how to clean blood stains from the floor.
Aftab used to run the social media profile of the woman to get his friends out of his way and hide his crime. However, after months of non-contact, one of his friends informed the family.
After this, the woman's father lodged a complaint with the police. The murder of the woman was not detected for more than six months.
