Patiala on high alert: Police took charge after violent clash, internet will be closed till 6 pm
Mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended from 9:30 am to 6 pm on Saturday as per the orders of the Punjab government following the violent clashes in Patiala on Friday. On Saturday, the police also remained alert. However, devotees came to visit Shri Kali Mata Temple as usual. According to sources, some Hindu organizations have called for Patiala Bandh today. Earlier on Friday, swords were waved on the streets of the city for about four hours.
Violent clashes broke out between Shiv Sainik and Khalistan supporters over the issue of Khalistan. This process started at around 11 am on Friday and went on till three in the afternoon. The police brought the situation under control by barely dispersing both the sides. The question is that for the last one week, there was a possibility of people from both sides facing the issue of Khalistan in the city on Friday, then why did the police not make concrete arrangements to deal with any kind of emergency situation. Sikh for Justice chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu had announced Friday to celebrate the foundation day of Khalistan a few days ago. In response to this, Shiv Sena's (Bal Thackeray) state working president Harish Singla had announced to take out Khalistan Murdabad March on Friday after holding a press conference. Former working president Harish Singla, expelled from Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) Punjab, was arrested on Friday evening by SP (City) Harpal Singh and DSP Mohit Agarwal. Earlier, Harish Singla, who had come to attend a meeting of Hindu organizations at Shri Kali Mata Temple, was assaulted. Harish Singla saved his life by running away but the activists of Hindu organizations infuriated hurled bricks at Harish Singla's car. The windows of the car were also broken. The Hindu society had called a meeting at the Shri Kali Mata temple in the evening after a clash between Shiv Sainiks and another group outside the Shri Kali Mata temple on Friday. The representatives of Hindu society present in the meeting got enraged when Harish Singla and his son Komala Singla reached there without calling.
The people of Hindu society accused Harish Singla of increasing their security in the name of Hindus and spoiling the atmosphere of the society. The people of Hindu society did not even care about the security personnel of Harish Singla and started beating. Seeing the increasing anger, Harish Singla ran away from the spot and went and thought it lucky to leave the car, but the enraged people attacked Singla's car with a brick.
