Our aim is to make India a sports superpower: Om Birla

Our players have a sense of confidence, self-confidence, and dedication. They have a passion to win medals in international competitions by working hard in the sports field. It is our responsibility that such players get proper means and facilities for preparation. For this, we are making an action plan to develop a sports ground up to the Panchayat level.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said this while addressing the function as the chief guest while laying the foundation stone of synthetic athletics track at Srinathapuram Stadium along with Autonomous Government and Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal on Sunday.

He said that the players had to face a lot of difficulty in practicing during the rainy season on the mud track. When we talked to him about this, he expressed the need for a synthetic track. Today the dream of the players to build a synthetic track is being fulfilled. He said that our goal is to make India a world superpower in sports. The central and state governments are working together on this.

Progress is being made on the development of sports facilities in Rajasthan. It will be our endeavor that in Kota-Bundi also all the playgrounds should be prepared according to international standards. He informed that a sports complex is being developed in Bundi at a cost of 20 crores. Indoor stadiums are being built at Ramganjmandi and Lakheri at a cost of Rs 4.5-4.5 crore. Apart from this, many schemes are also in the pipeline, whose coming on the ground will benefit the players the most.
