Government approves emergency use of Covovax

Official sources said on Monday that now children in the age group of 12-17 can get the anti-Covid vaccine ‘Covovax’ from the Serum Institute of India (SII) at private centers and a provision in this regard is being made on the Co-Vin portal. is. The move comes after the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) recommended a dose of anti-Covid vaccine to children aged 12-17. India’s drug regulator had on December 28 last year approved Covovax for limited use in emergencies in adults and on March 9 allowed use in the 12-17 age group, subject to certain conditions.

Currently, children in the age group of 12 to 14 years are vaccinated with the biological E vaccine Corbevax, while children in the age group of 15-18 are being vaccinated with Bharat Biotech at government immunization centers.
