'Bharat Jodo Yatra Failed, Now Congress Quit Yatra Begins': Goa CM Pramod Sawant Taunts On Opposition!
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said the Congress party's "Bharat Jodo Yatra" has failed and instead elected representatives have embarked on a "Congress Quit Yatra" from the coastal state.
His remarks came after eight Congress MLAs joined the BJP. Sawant said, "I think more and more Congress leaders will leave the party and join the BJP. The 'Congress Chhodo Yatra' has now started from Goa."
After merging with BJP, Michael Lobo, one of the eight MLAs, said, "We have started 'Quit Congress and join BJP' journey from Goa." Joining BJP, we want to ask people to strengthen the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant so that government schemes reach all the people and smooth the functioning of Goa.
Former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said that Congress should organize 'Congress Jodo Yatra' instead of Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Apart from Lobo and Kamat, others who have joined the BJP include Delilah Lobo, Kedar Naik, Sankalp Amonkar, Rajesh Faldesai, Alexo Sequeira, and Rudolph Fernandes.
With this, the number of BJP MLAs in the 40-member assembly has gone up to 28 and the number of members to 33.
