The Indian Air Force (IAF) on June 19 revealed the details of the process of the Agneepath Recruitment System, which is to begin on June 24. Amid the ongoing protests, the scheme will enlist the youth in the army for four years.

The Defense Ministry has announced a 10% reservation for Agniveers, while under the Union Home Ministry they are going to get the same quota in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. The announcement has been made to suppress the protesters.

The document shared by the IAF on its official Twitter handle lists eligibility, educational qualification, medical standards, assessment, leave, remuneration, life insurance cover, etc.

  • IAF firefighters will have to wear a distinctive emblem on their uniforms during working hours.
  • Agniveer will be deserving of many honors and awards.
  • IAF will maintain a centralized high-quality online database of Agniveers. The skills acquired by the Agniveers will be recorded and evaluated.
  • Agniveers will get a total of 30 leaves per year and other sick leaves only on proper medical advice.
  • Firefighters shall not be released on their own request before the completion of four years, except in exceptional cases, with the approval of the concerned authority.
  • Agniveers will be paid a package of ₹30,000 per month with fixed annual increments. In addition to risk and hardship, dress and traveling allowance will be given.
  • An Agniveer Corpus Fund will be created which will not lapse. Each Agniveer will contribute 30% of this income to this fund. The government will provide an interest rate equal to that of the Public Provident Fund.
  • After four years, Agniveer will be eligible to receive the Seva Nidhi package which will be his monthly contribution to the corpus fund and the accumulated amount of the government's contribution along with interest.
  • In case Agniveer exits the service before his tenure at his own request, he will receive a service fund package consisting of his own contribution only.
  • Agniveers will be provided a life insurance cover of ₹ 48 lakh for the duration of their service as Agniveers in the IAF.

The IAF document states that the enrollment forms for minors (applicants under 18 years of age) will need to be signed by the parents. The documents are to be signed by the Agniveers formally accepting all the terms and conditions of the scheme.

"After a period of four years, each Agniveer will return to the society based on the organizational requirements and policies announced by the Indian Air Force," the document said. “The aggressors will not have the right to be selected for further enrollment in the armed forces. The selection will be the exclusive jurisdiction of the Government.
