Mumbai-Nagpur Highway: Recently, an unexpected incident took place on the Mumbai-Nagpur highway, in which the tyres of more than 50 vehicles were punctured due to iron sheets. The incident took place on a busy stretch of the highway, causing huge traffic congestion and causing a lot of inconvenience to commuters.

Mumbai-Nagpur expressway Latest Update: Commuters on the Mumbai-Nagpur highway faced a major problem recently. Due to an iron sheet, the tyres of more than 50 vehicles were punctured on the highway. The incident occurred on the 'Maharashtra Samridhi Mahamarg', considered one of the strategic routes connecting Mumbai and Nagpur.

The incident took place around 10 pm on December 29 between Malegaon and Vanoja toll plazas in Washim district. The iron sheets caused tyres of many four-wheelers and goods trucks to get punctured. Due to this, there was a long traffic jam on the highway. Commuters were stranded on the highway the entire night as no help arrived for a long time. The administration is now investigating whether this iron sheet fell accidentally or it was deliberately thrown.

The Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, also known as Samruddhi Mahamarg, is a 701 km long expressway that is one of India's largest infrastructure projects and its completion will significantly reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur. It cost Rs 55,000 crore to build it.

There has been an incident before that

The incident comes at a time when questions are being raised over the safety of the high-speed corridor. In June, six people were killed and four injured when two cars collided on the Samruddhi Highway near Kadwanchi village in Jalna district.

People stuck in jams for several hours

The incident disrupted traffic on the highway for several hours. Police and highway officials together tried to remove the sheets and normalize traffic. During this time passengers were advised to use alternative routes.
