Padmini Kolhapure made her Bollywood debut with Raj Kapoor's RK banner's film 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram'. She calls herself a product of the RK banner. On the occasion of Raj Kapoor's 100th birth anniversary, Padmini Kolhapure, along with the CINTAA Cine and TV Artist Association (CINTAA), is going to give a musical tribute to this legendary artist of the film industry. Recently, in a special conversation with TV9 Hindi Digital, Padmini Kolhapure has refreshed some old memories related to Raj Kapoor.

Padmini Kolhapure said that both of us were very fond of food. I think I developed a liking for food because of Raj's Uncle. We both liked many things like his morning breakfast. He loved egg toast very much. Because of him, I got into the habit of eating egg toast. He used to eat egg toast in the morning before going to sleep. Actually, it was a night for him in the morning. So he used to sleep after eating egg toast in the morning. From there I also got into the habit of eating egg toast in the morning. He and his wife Krishna Aunty (Krishna Kapoor) were known for their hospitality.

He used to take care of his actress

Further Padmini Kolhapure told me that when we were shooting the film in Bangalore, he used to take me to MTR every morning. The breakfast there used to end at 8 o'clock. So we used to get up at 6 and go there. Both of us used to go there and sit and have breakfast comfortably. He used to take all his actresses to eat and I was also one of them.

First meeting with Raj Kapoor

Recalling her first meeting with Raj Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure said, "Usually when people meet a great artist like Raj Kapoor for the first time, they get scared. But when I met Raj Kapoor, I was a child myself. But later, after growing up, I realized what a great person I had met.

The audience could not digest some of his films

Padmini Kolhapure says that Raj Kapoor's style of making films was very different from others. He used to make films ahead of his time. But the audience could not digest some of his films. Today, those films of his which were ahead of their time have become cult films. Padmini Kolhapure, along with her friend Poonam Dhillon, is planning a tribute to Raj Kapoor. She hopes that Raj Kapoor's family will also join the celebration.
