When the real bandit came on the set
Shekhar Kapur wrote in the caption, “When we were shooting the film Bandit Queen in Dholpur, Rajasthan, a gang of dacoits was active there at that time. Because of this, we were asked to be more cautious there. Manoj was playing the role of dacoit Man Singh in this film, who was absconding and was involved in many illegal activities. We had also heard that Man Singh was active in the same area where our film was being shot. One night the real Man Singh came to the set of our film. He started asking to meet the man who was playing the character of Man Singh.”
Shekhar Kapur further wrote, “After this, Man Singh met Manoj Bajpayee, drank alcohol with him and spent some time with him. Now only Manoj Bajpayee can tell what happened between the two at that time. But for him it was no less than a thrill. Yes, it was a bit scary that the police was after the bandit he was playing and he came straight and stood in front of them.”
