She posted several pictures of herself taking a dip in the Ganges river. While some fans appreciated her pictures, some criticized her for her clothes (orange saree). Sharing the pictures, Riva wrote, "Magic worth seeing once in a lifetime - the holy view of Maha Kumbh." However, many social media users felt that her pictures looked more like a photoshoot than a real spiritual experience. Users called her a 'showbaazi'.
This is not the first time Riva has faced criticism, earlier she was trolled for working with actors much older than her. In an old interview, Riva had addressed these concerns and said, "What do I answer to this? I have nothing to say to people who are doubting my age or what I am doing. The love that people are giving me is enough for me."
