Richa Chadha: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' has been streamed on Netflix on May 1. Richa Chadha is playing the character of 'Lajjo' in the series. The actress has now revealed that she was initially offered a role with more screen time. But he chose the role of Lajjo. Richa Chadha asked why she decided to play the character of Lajjo in the show despite being offered a role with more screen time.

Richa Chadha said that her character is similar to the female version of 'Pakeezah' and 'Devdas', which will make an impact on the audience. Talking about her decision, Richa Chadha said, "When I was talked to for 'Heeramandi', I was offered another role, that too with more screen time. But being an actor, I also wanted to see what was new to me, so I chose Lajjo." 

'I wanted to do something different'

She further said, "I have experimented with characters who have shades of grey, like Bholi Punjaban or Tara in 'Maddam Chief'. Some people say that I only play strong characters. Richa revealed that when Sanjay Leela Bhansali told her about the character of Lajjo, she immediately agreed to the role.

Apart from this, regarding the Kathak dance presented by Lajjo, the actress said, "I always wanted to include Kathak dance in my on-screen roles, and 'Hiramandi' allowed me to do so. As a trained Kathak dancer, performing Lajjo's dance was a wonderful experience for me.
