Earlier this week, news emerged that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim had been admitted to a hospital in Karachi due to a serious health problem. Some sources also claimed that he was poisoned, although this was not confirmed. Chhota Shakeel, close to Dawood, has rejected these reports.
As soon as Dawood came into the limelight, an old picture resurfaced on social media. The picture shows Amitabh Bachchan shaking hands with a man who resembles the notorious underworld don responsible for the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts. The blasts, a series of terrorist bombings, killed 257 people and injured 1,400.
This particular picture had gone viral three years ago when Jaya Bachchan had criticized those targeting the Indian entertainment industry over alleged drug connections. After this, trolls made the photo viral to defame the Bachchan family. Following this, Abhishek Bachchan had to issue a clarification on Twitter, stating that the people in the photo were his father Amitabh Bachchan and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Shankarrao Chavan. This photo was taken in 2010 when Ashok Chavan met Amitabh Bachchan at the commissioning ceremony of the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link.
On the work front, Amitabh is set to star in two big-budget films next year. The first, "Kalki 2898 AD", is a dystopian action drama directed by Nag Ashwin, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in the lead roles. It will be shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu.
The second film, "Vettaiyaan" will mark Amitabh's on-screen collaboration with Rajinikanth after 33 years. The much-awaited film directed by Janavel also stars Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati in lead roles. Referred to as Thalaivar 170, the film is significant as it is Rajinikanth's 170th film as a lead actor.
