Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday revealed her new role as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and her plans to join politics.

During a conversation at the Times Now Summit, when Kangana was asked if she already had plans to enter politics, she said, “The decision is always the party's but I have always openly supported the BJP, even though I am not a member of the party.” Am I a member or not? I have always fought for the BJP and supported India. I've always felt that the natural alignment of my ideology or personality has always been that of a flamboyant right-winger or a proud right-wing personality.

Kangana said, "To be a leader, people have to look at you and say 'Yes he should be a leader'. I think it is a different kind of role and responsibility."
