On 13 February, this film completed 50 years of its release. During a recent conversation, famous script writer, lyricist Javed Akhtar said that if 'Aandhi' is released in theatres again in today's time, then Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen will again show their best acting.
The film 'Aandhi' is considered a modern classic and one of lyricist-poet Gulzar's best films as a director. Gulzar's films like Mausam, Parichay, Mere Apne, Khushboo and Lekin have also received a lot of love, but 'Aandhi' was also liked a lot.
Javed Akhtar wants to see 'Aandhi' re-released
During a recent conversation with PTI, Javed Akhtar said, "This is a very good film. It needs to be released in multiplexes today. The disadvantage of films that are written very thoughtfully and well is that people do not like them much. Such films do not get that kind of audience in theatres and I think if Aandhi is released again in today's time, it will do well." Kishore Kumar, RD Burman and Lata Mangeshkar gave a great soundtrack in 'Aandhi'. The songs of this film 'Tene Bina', 'Tum Aa Gaye Ho', 'Is Mod Se Jaate Hain' are still very popular.
This film was written by famous writer Kamleshwar. Its story was based on Aarti Devi, daughter of a politician and a hotel manager. Aarti Devi falls in love with the hotel manager. Both fall in love. Later both get married quietly, but after marriage nothing remains good in their life.
