CNBC-TV18 report says that this decision is likely to be announced in September next month. Currently, dearness allowance for central government employees is 50%. With the increase in September, DA is likely to go up to 53%.
3 months DA Arrear will be available before Dussehra
If the government increases DA till Dussehra, then central employees will also get 3 months' arrears. Actually, this year the festival of Vijayadashami or Dussehra is being celebrated on 12 October.
Since the new hike will be effective from July 1, 2023, the DA for July, August and September will be pending. Looking at the previous pattern, the central government will also pay this pending DA along with the increased salary of October.
This means that the increased salary that central employees will get in October will also include the arrears of July, August and September. Let us tell you that according to the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission, DA is increased twice a year. This increase is implemented on a half-yearly basis.
When was the last DA announced?
Last time the Modi government announced an increase in dearness allowance on March 7 this year. This increase will be effective from January 1, 2024. With this, DA increased to 50%.
