The work of running this orphanage was done by the Waqf Board. In 2002, the trust sought permission to sell the land. A few months later, the Charity Commissioner from the government gave permission to sell it.
According to a report in The New Indian Express, the land was sold to Mukesh Ambani's company. Mukesh Ambani's Antilia Commercial Private Limited bought it for $ 2.5 million at that time. However, at that time its market value was $ 1.5 billion. After buying the land, the Ambani family sought permission to build a building on it after paperwork. In 2003, the BMC approved the plan to construct this building and its construction started in the year 2006.
Ambani's house is named after an island in Antilia, Spain. It has been designed by American architecture company Perkins & Will.
