BEML Bullet Train Contract: Indian Railways has been working on high speed trains for the last few years. After the successful operation of the semi high speed train Vande Bharat, now Indian Railways is moving further to realize the dream of high-speed rail connectivity. The high-speed bullet train will be operated first in the country on the route from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. For this, the Railways has given the contract to make high-speed trainsets to BEML. These trainsets will be indigenously designed and manufactured in India. Their trial run will be at a speed of 280 km per hour.

These facilities will be available for passengers in the coach

These trains will be fully air-conditioned, chair car configuration. The train will have modern facilities for passengers like reclining and rotatable seats, restricted mobility and onboard infotainment system. This will enable passengers to experience comfortable and pleasant travel even on long journeys. For this, BEML Limited has secured a contract for design, manufacture and commissioning of two high-speed trainsets from Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. This will be a big step towards high-speed trains in the country.

Delivery has to be given by the end of 2026

A trainset will have 8 coaches, each coach will cost Rs 27.86 crore. Thus, the total contract is worth Rs 866.87 crore. This contract includes design cost, lump sum development cost, non-recurring charge and lump sum cost for jigs, fixtures, tooling and testing facilities. It will be very useful for the upcoming high-speed projects in the country. BEML's Bengaluru Rail Coach Complex will manufacture these trainsets, which will deliver them by the end of 2026.

The country's first high-speed bullet train network is being built by NHSRCL between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Let us tell you that BEML is also working on 10 Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets. The first of these trainsets has been given to ICF. Now it will be trialled before being introduced for passengers. The Railways has claimed that the new Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be equipped with better facilities and faster speed than the premium Rajdhani Express trains. After its operation, it is expected that train journeys on major routes of Indian Railways will take less time.
