Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a scheme in which an account can be opened for a daughter up to 10 years of age. This is a savings scheme that offers an interest rate of 8.2%, and a minimum of ₹250 and a maximum of ₹1.5 lakh can be deposited annually.

It is mandatory to deposit at least ₹ 250 every year in a Sukanya account and failure to do so attracts a penalty. This amount has to be deposited before 31st March every year.

In Sukanya Yojana, money has to be deposited for 15 years. If you contribute even ₹10,000 annually, a huge sum will accumulate by the time your daughter reaches maturity.
