Stock market: Sensex opened with a jump of 462 points, Nifty at 17778


Due to strong global cues, the stock market opened on the green mark on Thursday, the fourth trading day of the week. The Bombay Stock Exchange's major index Sensex opened at 59,652.38 with a gain of 462.65 points or 0.78 percent. On the other hand, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange opened at 17,778.90 with a gain of 132.90 points (0.75 percent). In early trade, 1494 shares rose, 252 shares declined and 63 shares remained unchanged. The BSE 30-share Sensex fell 1,282.89 points or 2.13 percent last week.

These include Bharti Airtel, Power Grid, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, NTPC, Tata Steel, HCL Tech, Infosys, M&M, Axis Bank, Maruti, Tech Mahindra, UltraTech Cement, TCS, Asian Paints, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Auto, Sun Pharma, Titan, Reliance, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC, Nestle India, ITC, L&T, Kotak Bank and Dr. Reddy's.

During the pre-open at 9.01 am, the Sensex was up 371.13 points (0.63 percent) at 59,560.86. While the Nifty was up 109.60 points (0.62 percent) at 17,755.60.

The stock market opened on the green mark on Wednesday. The Sensex opened at 59,833.74 with a gain of 88.86 points or 0.15 percent. On the other hand, the Nifty opened at 17,869.50 with a gain of 47.20 points (0.26 percent).
