If you are using a Paytm UPI handle then this news is for you. After the ban on Paytm Payments Bank, users may soon need to change their UPI handle. Paytm has started the process of linking users' UPI IDs with other banks. If you have not yet changed your UPI handle and are facing issues with UPI transactions, you should consider doing it soon. Paytm users will be shifted to banks like State Bank of India (SBI), Axis Bank, HDFC Bank and Yes Bank. Here's how you can make this change.

Currently, Paytm users have a UPI ID like 987XXXXXX@Paytm. Soon, Paytm will provide the option to migrate to a new UPI ID, allowing users to transfer their UPI handle to another bank.

Pop-up notification from Paytm

These four banks will act as PSP (payment service provider) for Paytm. Users will be asked to give consent to use Paytm with one of these new UPI IDs linked to banks.

Paytm will ask you to switch your '@paytm' handle to a new UPI handle (like yourname@axis) associated with one of the mentioned banks. You can choose the bank while ensuring that there is no disruption in your UPI payments. You can still send and receive money using Paytm. This change ensures that Paytm can continue to offer UPI services. You may receive a notification to update your UPI handle soon.

What's new for Paytm users?

To ensure seamless UPI payments for both users and merchants, Paytm will transfer funds from its Paytm Payments Bank to Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI and Yes Bank accounts. Users with '@paytm' handle will be migrated first.

How to change the UPI handle

Go to the profile section in your Paytm app. Here you will get the option of UPI and payment settings. Click on it. You will see a list of UPI handles associated with the four banks. Select the handle of your preferred bank. After selecting the UPI handle, you can use it to make payment.
