The College of Air Warfare (CAW) was established on 1 July 1959. Formerly known as "School of Land and Air Warfare (SLAW)", it is currently located in Secunderabad and plays an important role in the training and strategic development of the IAF.

For admission to CAW, candidates have to choose one of three main paths: Common Defence Services Exam (CDSE) NCC Special Entry Airforce Common Admission Test (AFCAT)

Admission through CDSE

Male candidates can apply for permanent commission through the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE). Age Limit: 20 to 24 years Educational Qualification: Graduation with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level.

Opportunities through NCC Special Entry

Candidates who are NCC 'C' certificate holders can apply for a permanent or short service commission in the flying branch. Age Limit: 20 to 24 years (26 years for CPL holders). Educational Qualification: Minimum 60% in graduation and 50% in Maths and Physics in 10+2.

Short Service Commission through AFCAT

One can apply for the Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Flying Branch through the AFCAT exam. Age Limit: 20 to 24 years Educational Qualification: 10+2 with 50% in Maths and Physics and 60% in Graduation.
