From AI to Smartphones, will new technology become expensive after the budget?

Technology is now ruling the world. Artificial Intelligence is gradually gaining its dominance. Many new emerging technology sectors are developing in India. In such a situation, the government can increase the scope of tax on these technologies in the upcoming budget and bring its estimated tax scope. But will this make new technologies like AI, data center or semiconductor expensive in the country?
The government may introduce a presumptive tax regime for new emerging technological sectors such as data centers, cloud computing, biochemistry, green technology, artificial intelligence and semiconductors. According to ET's report, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may present a roadmap for taxing these new technologies in the budget.
A senior official says that to impose presumptive taxation on these sectors, the government can increase the turnover limit from Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore. This will provide relief to companies engaged in the development of these technologies. The government's aim is to promote research and innovation in these emerging sectors. For this entire process, changes can be made in Section 44AD and 44ADA of the Income Tax Act. This will boost entrepreneurship in these sectors.
In the presumptive tax system, the government considers only a fixed percentage of a company's turnover as taxable income and then levies income tax on it. Due to this, the remaining amount of turnover becomes tax free. This system is always considered better for growth in new segments. In this, while the government gets a fixed tax, the entrepreneur's tax burden is reduced.
Will AI and smartphones become expensive?
The government is definitely going to bring sectors like AI, data centers and semiconductors under the tax net, but its impact will be difficult for the common man. The reason for this is that the government wants the development of these sectors in the country. Therefore, the government has also given many tax reliefs to these segments, while the government can also bring the benefit of presumptive tax to boost these sectors.
In such a situation, even if tax is going to be imposed on the semiconductor sector, it will have almost no impact on smartphones or laptops in the country.
