Government employees may get a big gift before Diwali this year, as the central government is considering increasing the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees. This time there may be an increase of three percent in the DA of the employees, due to which it will increase from the current 42 percent to 45 percent. Additionally, dearness relief (DR) for government pensioners may also increase. An announcement regarding the DA hike is expected soon, which may bring joy to government employees and pension holders just before Diwali.

According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of All India Railwaymen's Federation, this time DA may increase by three percent. They are advocating a four percent DA increase. If the government agrees to this, then the DA of central employees will increase to 46 percent. For example, if an employee currently gets a basic salary of Rs 36,500 per month, their DA is currently Rs 15,330. If the three percent DA increase is implemented from July 2023, their DA will increase by Rs 1,095 to Rs 16,425. Besides, they will also get arrears from July.
