Bima Sakhi Yojana: The Modi government is launching various schemes to empower women. The way women's participation has increased in the last assembly elections, the government's focus has increased on welfare schemes for women. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Bima Sakhi Yojana' today.
Launching the LIC Bima Sakhi scheme, PM Modi said that India is taking another strong step towards women empowerment. Today is special for other reasons too. Today is the 9th and the number 9 is considered very auspicious in the scriptures.
What is 'Bima Sakhi Scheme'?
Through LIC's Bima Sakhi scheme, efforts are being made to empower women between 18 and 70 years of age who have passed 10th standard. The objective of this scheme is to train and financially empower women who have passed the 10th standard. Under the 'Bima Sakhi scheme', one lakh women across India will be trained as LIC agents, including 8,000 in Haryana.
3 Years of Training and Salary
These women will get a monthly stipend of Rs 7,000 in the first year, Rs 6,000 in the second year and Rs 5,000 in the third year. Also, financial literacy and insurance awareness will be promoted. Under this program, women will get an opportunity to become an insurance agent (Bima Sakhi). The Bima Sakhi scheme aims to provide employment opportunities and financial assistance to rural women.
Opportunity to become LIC Agent to Development Officer
Under this scheme, women undergoing training will get an opportunity to play the role of LIC agent and development officer in LIC. They will get Rs 7000 initially during training. In addition to the salary, they will get a commission on meeting the insurance target. Prime Minister Modi will also distribute appointment certificates to prospective Bima Sakhis.
