Stock Market: Strong jump in stock market, Sensex rises more than 500, Nifty also on green mark
On Tuesday, the second trading day of the week, amid positive global cues, the Indian stock market opened on the green mark, recovering from a two-day slump. The 30-share Sensex index of the Bombay Stock Exchange opened at 57,114, up 534 points or 0.94 per cent, while the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange opened at 17,122, up 168 points or 0.99 per cent.
With the opening of the market, about 1739 shares have risen, 322 shares have declined and 60 shares have remained unchanged. Earlier on Monday, the first trading day of the week, the stock market closed on the red mark with a strong fall. The BSE Sensex index lost 617 points or 1.08 per cent to close at 56,580, while the NSE Nifty index closed at 16,994, down 218 points or 1.27 per cent.
Let us inform here that there was a huge fall in the Sensex on Friday as well, which continued on Monday as well. On Friday, the Sensex slipped 714 points or 1.23 per cent to close at 57,197, while the NSE Nifty index lost 221 points and closed at 17,172. Investors had lost Rs 6,47,485 crore due to the two-day fall on Friday and Monday. This has brought down the market capitalization of companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) to Rs 2,65,29,672 crore.
