Stock Market: Stock market continues to rise, Sensex jumps more than 200 points, Nifty crosses 17300
The Indian stock market opened with gains on Friday, the last trading day of the week. Both the market indices Sensex and Nifty started trading on the green mark. The 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange opened at 57,739 points, up 218 points or 0.38 per cent, while the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange opened 60 points or 0.35 per cent higher at 17,305 points.
With the opening of the market, about 1436 shares have risen, 463 shares have declined and 82 shares have remained unchanged. ONGC, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Grasim Industries and UPL were the major gainers on Nifty, while SBI Life Insurance, Axis Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Divis Labs and HUL opened with losses.
On Thursday, the last trading day, the stock market opened on the green mark and finally closed with a strong boom. The BSE Sensex index jumped 702 points or 1.23 per cent to close at 57,521. On the other hand, the Nifty index of NSE ended trading at 17,245 level, gaining 207 points or 1.21 per cent.
