Stock Market Closed: Stock market slips early, Sensex loses 460 points, Nifty closed below 17200
On Friday, the last trading day of the week, the Indian stock market opened with a gain, but could not maintain this momentum. At the end of trading, the market closed on the red mark. The 30-share Sensex index of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 57,061, down 460 points or 0.80 per cent, while the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange slipped 142 points or 0.83 per cent to end at 17,102.
Earlier, the BSE Sensex opened at 57,739 points, up 218 points or 0.38 per cent, while the NSE Nifty index gained 60 points or 0.35 per cent to open at 17,305 points. With the opening of the market, about 1436 shares had gained, 463 shares had declined, while there was no change in another 82 shares.
On Thursday, the last trading day, the stock market opened on the green mark and finally closed with a strong boom. The BSE Sensex index jumped 702 points or 1.23 per cent to close at 57,521. On the other hand, the Nifty index of NSE ended trading at 17,245 level, gaining 207 points or 1.21 per cent.
