Apart from India, the Khasi tribe is also found in Bangladesh. It is said that in this tribe, the birth of girls is celebrated with as much fervour as the birth of boys. In this tribe, women are the head of the family.

Here the rules of farewell are also quite different. Here the boys come after the farewell and the girls do not go to their in-laws' house.

Girls usually change their surname after marriage, but in the Khasi tribe, boys change their surname after marriage. Children are named after their mother's surname.
