Woman fed poisonous meat

In the year 629, the Prophet invaded Khayber, a region of Arabia, to spread Islam. Many Jews lost their lives in the battle to conquer Khayber. This battle took place between Muslims and Jews. The Prophet won this battle but the families of many women were ruined. One of these women was Zainab bint al-Harid. Zainab wanted to take revenge for the murder of her family. It is mentioned in Hadith and Sira regarding this incident that the cause of their death was poisonous meat.

The painful death of the Prophet

Sunan Abu Dawood Hadith number 4512 tells that Zainab killed a goat, mixed poison in it and fed it to the Prophet. Zainab thought that if the Prophet dies from this poison then he is an ordinary human being and if he does not die then he is sent by Allah. The Prophet tasted that meat. He remained in pain for 4 years. The Prophet knew that the woman had poisoned him but he still forgave her. Hakims also tried many remedies for him but they could not do anything. In the last days of Prophet Muhammad, his mental condition started deteriorating. He used to doubt even the people around him. Once he even doubted Ayesha because Ayesha had given him medicine.
