Atrocities of Aurangzeb

In history, Akbar has been described as liberal and Aurangzeb as the most fanatic and cruel king of Mughal history. Today we will talk about Aurangzeb who was at the forefront in terms of longevity and longest reign. It is said that in the last days he lost his arrogance. How was the last day of Aurangzeb's life, what were his last words, what was going on in his mind at the end and what worries were troubling him, let us tell you.

Was called Alamgir

Aurangzeb was the sixth emperor of the Mughal Empire who ruled from 31 July 1658 to 3 March 1707 until his death. Aurangzeb is considered the last effective emperor of the Mughal period. Aurangzeb liked to call himself Alamgir i.e. world conqueror. To gain power, Aurangzeb imprisoned his father Shah Jahan. He got his brother Dara Shikoh killed. After North India in Hindustan, he turned to Deccan and implemented Sharia and Islamic law in the conquered areas there. Along with this, he started collecting the Jaziya tax imposed on non-Muslims which was abolished by Akbar.

Aurangzeb was sorry

Aurangzeb liked religious matters more than worldly things. This was the reason why there were the least number of women in his harem. According to historians, Aurangzeb was talking to himself in his last moments. He said, 'I could not spend even a single breath of the breaths that Allah had given me. How will I show my face to them?' Saying this, he stopped speaking, but his lips were mumbling something. When his son Azam Shah looked at his father's face carefully, he was surprised. Azam bent down and tried to listen to his father, but failed. He tried to hold the most powerful and oldest hands of the Mughal Sultanate in his palms, but he could not do so because Aurangzeb's body was cold.

While dying he called himself a 'sinner'

According to reports, Aurangzeb called his younger son Kambakhsh and expressed his concern. He said, 'After my death, my people will be treated badly. Whatever I did to the people, the same will happen to my own people.' He told his second and most loved son Azam Shah, 'I have failed as a king. My precious life was of no use. Allah is everywhere, but I am unfortunate that when the time to meet him is coming, I am not able to feel his presence. I am a sinner. Perhaps my sins are not such that they can be forgiven.'

Last day of Aurangzeb

Death was approaching and he was worried. The king was helpless on the last day of his life. He was finding solace in prayers. Even on the day of his death, he prayed in the morning. He called his son Azam Shah and fell asleep while talking to him. After some time he woke up, but his eyes were not opening properly. There was a crowd of people around the dying king Aurangzeb. His last moment had come. One last prayer was said. His eyes closed and he breathed his last.

Aurangzeb shed the blood of his own people to gain the throne. He kept fighting throughout his life during his 50-year reign. His crimes came before him like a shadow in his last moments. His obsession to conquer Bijapur had brought him to a place at the age of 88, from where he had given up the hope of seeing the Red Fort of Delhi again. This was the reason that as per his last wish (find a place and bury me wherever I die) he was buried in Aurangabad of present-day Maharashtra
