Where do Naga Sadhus go after Kumbh?
Most of the Naga Sadhus come to Kumbh from two special Akharas. One Akhara is Mahaparinirvan Akhara of Varanasi and the other is Panch Dashnam Juna Akhara. Naga Sadhus of both these Akharas become a part of Kumbh. These Sadhus come to Kumbh with tridents in their hands, ash on the body, Rudraksha garland and sometimes animal skin wrapped around the body. Naga Sadhus take the first royal bath of Kumbh and only after that other devotees are allowed to take a Kumbh bath. Naga Sadhus do not remain naked i.e. in Digambar form on other days. The digambar form is not acceptable in society, which is why these Sadhus live in ashrams wearing a towel after Kumbh. Digambar means earth and sky. Naga Sadhus believe that the earth is their bed and the sky is their blanket. That is why they come in Naga form for the Amrit Varsha of Kumbh.
Do penance
When Kumbh ends, Naga Sadhus return to their respective Akharas. In these Akharas, Naga Sadhus meditate and practice Sadhana, and also impart religious teachings. They have an ascetic lifestyle. Many Naga Sadhus go to the Himalayas, forests and other secluded places to do penance. Many Naga Sadhus go to the Himalayas to do penance with ashes wrapped around their bodies. Here they do rigorous penance and survive by eating fruits and flowers.
Live in places of pilgrimage
Naga sadhus also stay at pilgrimage sites after Kumbh. They reside in Prayagraj, Nashik, Haridwar and Ujjain. They live their lives after taking initiation. Apart from this, Naga sadhus undertake religious journeys.
