The war of Mahabharata was a very fierce war, which we all know about. Many warriors were killed in this war, including great warriors like Duryodhana, Karna, Abhimanyu and Bhishma. You may not know that 16 years after the war, all these warriors were revived for one night. This extraordinary incident has been described in the Ashramvasik Parva of Mahabharata. We are going to give you information about this.

Dhritarashtra stayed in Hastinapur for 15 years

After the Mahabharata war, Yudhishthira became the king of Hastinapur and assigned different responsibilities to his brothers. He entrusted Vidur, Sanjaya and Yuyutsu with the responsibility of taking care of Dhritarashtra. Dhritarashtra stayed in Hastinapur for about 15 years. One day, Dhritarashtra decided to go to the forest for penance. Gandhari, Vidur, Sanjaya and Kunti accompanied him.

The Pandavas came to meet their mother in the forest

Dhritarashtra, Gandhari, Vidur, Sanjaya and Kunti started their penance under the guidance of Maharshi Ved Vyas. After about a year, Yudhishthira along with his brothers and Draupadi went to the forest to meet his mother Kunti and Dhritarashtra. The Pandavas were extremely happy to meet their family members. They decided to spend the night there.

When Maharishi Ved Vyas gave a special boon

The next day, Maharishi Ved Vyas went to Dhritarashtra's ashram. He was very happy to see the Pandavas. Pleased with the penance of Dhritarashtra, Gandhari and Kunti, he granted them a boon. Gandhari wanted to see her sons who were killed in the war, while Kunti wanted to see Karna. Draupadi also requested to meet her dead sons. Ved Vyas fulfilled her wish.

Maharishi Veda Vyas took them all to the banks of the Ganga. Entering the river, he invoked the spirits of the warriors from both the Pandava and Kaurava sides. In no time, Bhishma, Dronacharya, Karna, Duryodhana, Dushasan, Abhimanyu, Dhritarashtra's sons, Ghatotkacha and Draupadi's five sons came out of the water. Veda Vyas gave Dhritarashtra and Gandhari divine vision to see their sons.

In the morning all the warriors returned to their respective worlds

The Pandavas, Draupadi, Kunti, Dhritarashtra and Gandhari were overjoyed to see their departed loved ones. They spent the night together. The next morning, Veda Vyasa announced that any woman who wished to accompany her husband to the afterlife could enter the Ganges. Thus, the warriors returned to their respective abodes, bringing an end to this miraculous event.
