It is believed that the village of Kaitha in the Sakti district of Chhattisgarh is blessed by the serpent god. It is said that the soil of this village has such unique properties that it can neutralize the venom of even the most venomous snakes. On the occasion of Nag Panchami, the Biratiya Baba temple in Kaitha village of Sakti district of Chhattisgarh sees a huge rush of devotees since early morning.

A large number of devotees come to worship Baba and the Nag Devta. With milk, curd, coconut, and incense sticks in hand, they patiently wait for their turn in line.

Significantly, centuries ago the landlord of the village had saved the life of a snake. In return, the snake gave a boon that the soil of the village could neutralize the poison if someone fed on it. Apart from this, if a person bitten by a snake is taken to the border of the village in time, then his life will be saved.
