A huge whale shark weighing 1,500 kg got trapped in the net of local fishermen in Machilipatnam's Krishna district. When this fish was brought to the Gilakladindi port, traders from Chennai immediately bought it.

Actually, a huge whale shark got trapped in the fishermen's net. The weight of this whale is said to be 1500 kg. This 1500 kg fish was brought to Gilakladindi port with the help of a crane.
According to the information, a huge whale shark weighing 1,500 kg got trapped in the net of local fishermen in Machilipatnam's Krishna district. When this fish was brought to Gilakladindi port, Chennai traders immediately bought it. The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) trapped in the fishermen's net is an endangered species. It is known for its large size and slow speed. International Whale Shark Day is celebrated every year on 30 August around the world. Whale shark is a slow-moving filter-feeding fish species.
Whale sharks live in the open waters of the oceans. Due to the temperature of the sea coast of Gujarat being favorable for them, whale sharks reach the coast of Gujarat to lay eggs. Due to this, whale sharks are also called the daughter of Gujarat.
Whale shark is considered to be the largest species of fish in the world. This giant fish weighs 10 to 12 tons and is 40 to 50 feet long. If it is not hunted, it can live up to 100 years. On 11 July 2001, the Ministry of Environment and Forests of the Government of India gave legal protection to the whale shark and banned hunting.
The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is included in Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972. There is also a provision for a punishment of three to seven years and a fine of Rs 10,000 for hunting it.
