Free Travel on Expressway: If you also have a car and you travel on highways or expressways daily, then this news will make you happy. Yes, now under a system you will not have to pay tolls. That is, the car will run on expressways and highways without any toll. This facility will not be for vehicles with taxi numbers, rather this facility will be available only to private vehicle owners. The government said that if a vehicle has Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) installed and it is working, then that vehicle will not have to pay any kind of toll tax (Toll Tax-Free) for traveling up to 20 km daily on highways or expressways.

There is no toll tax for a distance of up to 20 km

Let us tell you that GNSS is a type of satellite system that gives information about the location of the vehicle. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification of changes in the National Highway Fee Rules, 2008. It was clearly stated in the notification that if the vehicle travels more than 20 km daily, then toll tax will be charged to it. This tax will be based on the distance that the vehicle has actually covered. If a car runs on the highway or expressway for 20 km daily, then no tax will be charged to it. But if the vehicle runs more than 20 km, then a toll will be charged to it.

You can use this technology even if you have Fastag.

Toll tax will be collected using a technology called GNSS. GNSS is a type of satellite system that gives information related to the location of the vehicle. The Road and Transport Ministry said in July that a new type of toll tax system would soon be implemented on some selected highways. This technology has been named GNSS. This technology will work with Fastag. That is, even if you have Fastag, you can use this new technology. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he has found a new way so that there is less need for vehicles to stop at the toll plaza.

The pilot project started on two highways.

The notification said that the driver, owner, or person in charge of any vehicle other than vehicles holding the national permit, who uses the same section of the national highway, permanent bridge, bypass, or tunnel, will not be charged any toll for a journey of up to 20 km in each direction in a day under the GNSS-based system. A pilot project regarding a based toll collection system has been done on the Bengaluru-Mysore section of NH-275 in Karnataka and the Panipat-Hisar section of NH-709 in Haryana.
