Japanese automaker Nissan has made a big achievement. The company has successfully sold more than 30,000 units of its popular compact SUV Magnite in India in less than a year.

The Nissan Magnite 2020 has been a success story for the Japanese auto brand in India ever since its launch on 2nd December. Despite stiff competition in the sub-compact SUV segment and other restrictions such as the COVID-19 pandemic, recovery in the economy, and global semiconductor chip shortages, Magnite has sold over 30,000 units in India.

72 thousand bookings received so far

Nissan issued a press statement on Friday saying it has received 72,000 bookings for the Magnite, and has delivered 30,000 cars so far. The 30,000th unit was handed over to a customer at a ceremony held at a Nissan dealership in Gurugram. Guillaume Cartier, Nissan AMIEO Chairperson for Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania Regions, said, “I am delighted to present the Nissan Global President Award to Nissan India Operations for the successful launch of the Nissan Magnite as part of the Nissan Next Transformation Plan. " “With this car, we wanted to give a strong competition to the highly competitive compact SUV segment in India.”

Launched in less than 5 lakhs

At the beginning of its launch, Magnite came with a very competitive price tag which was one of the highlights of its demand amongst the customers. Many consider it to be a do-or-die product for Nissan in India, for information, let us tell you that the base variant of the Magnite was launched at a price of fewer than ₹ 5 lakhs. However, its prices have been increased several times since its launch. Apart from this, the company now also offers it in a subscription-based model.

Engine and power

Two petrol engine options are available in the Nissan Magnite, with no diesel engine option available. Its 1.0-liter turbo engine claims to be the star performer and makes around 97 bhp power and 160 Nm peak torque. Talking about transmission options, it is handled by a 5-speed manual or X-Tronic CVT gearbox. The waiting period for the car is quite long, let us tell you that Nissan is also exporting the Magnit car from its manufacturing plant near Chennai to markets like Nepal, South Africa, and Indonesia.
