During the summit, the Future Of Mobility: Co-Driving the Agenda session was attended by Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, Debashish Bisoi, CEO, Bosch SDS, Shubhranshu Singh, Chief Marketing Officer, Tata Motors and Hagen Rodowski, Consulting Senior Partner, Porsche.
Electric is the future of mobility
During this discussion, Shubhranshu Singh said that according to the way technology and industry are moving, the future of mobility in the near future is electric. An ecosystem is being formed for this. While Santosh Iyer of Mercedes Benz took this point forward and said that the future right now is of electricity, however, nothing can be said about what the future will be.
Shubhranshu says that Tata Motors is already the market leader in this sector in India. While India has focused well on electric mobility for fleet, delivery, last-mile logistics, and public transport. He also mentioned the challenge related to this that it will take time for people to shift to it rapidly.
He added that the confidence in electric motors is increasing among the customers as they have started feeling that they have made some contribution to improving the environment.
Is driverless cars possible with AI?
Will AI make driverless cars a reality in the future? Hagen Rodowski answered this question. He said that this is quite possible. But right now companies avoid it only because mixed traffic is seen on the roads all over the world. On the matter of reducing the cost of vehicles, Devashish Bisoi said that there are many aspects to reduce the cost. Safety, time, and technology play an important role in this. In such a situation, cost cannot be reduced by reducing any one of these factors.
India needs to focus on battery research.
During the summit, on the subject of Unicorn Today, MNC Tomorrow, TCG Chairman Purendu Chatterjee said that if startups want to move forward, they will have to see where the future business is. For this, he mentioned the significant increase in the capitalization of the US stock market. Not only this, in the context of India, he said that there is a need to focus a lot on research and development here.
He said that apart from Aadhaar and UPI, today there is no Indian product that is suitable for international use. Therefore, there is a need for startups in India to focus on research. He said that right now we are at the very starting point of sodium ion battery. In such a situation, Indian companies can make a big contribution here for the future.
