MG Windsor EV: The new MG Windsor EV is becoming more popular with each passing month. It was the best-selling electric car in October and November 2024, while in December it emerged as the best-selling car by beating all models of rival carmakers. JSW MG Motor India claimed that Windsor EV has secured the top position in the electric passenger vehicle segment for the third consecutive month with sales of 3,785 units.

MG Windsor EV was the segment leader with sales of 3,116 units in October. It was again chart-topper with 3,144 units in November. In three months, the Windsor EV has crossed sales of 10,000 units, taking the total to 10,045 units. These are good figures for the new model as the electric car segment in India is still in the early stages, accounting for less than 3% of the total cars sold in the domestic market.

Priced between Rs 13.50 lakh and Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Windsor EV has a claimed range of 332 km (ARAI-certified) on a one-time full charge. Under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, the car can be rented at Rs 9.99 lakh + Rs 3.5 per kilometre of battery.

While the MG Windsor EV has no direct rival, there are some budget models in the electric car segment like the Tata Tiago EV, Tata Punch-EV, Tata Nexon-EV, Tata Karvv-EV, Mahindra XUV400 and Citroen e-C3. Customer deliveries of the Windsor EV, which was launched in September, began in October. Apart from the Windsor EV, JSW also sells the MG Comet EV and the ZS EV.

In December, JSW MG recorded sales of 7,516 units, a growth of 55% year-on-year. EVs accounted for more than 70% of the total cars sold by the company during the month. Apart from electric cars, JSW MG sells internal combustion engine (ICE) models like the Astor, Hector and Gloster.
