Mahindra entered the Indian market for the first time in February 2025 and became the second-largest carmaker in India in terms of sales. The domestic brand also surpassed Hyundai, registering a growth of 19 percent year-on-year.

50,420 units sold in February 2025

Mahindra sold 50,420 units in February 2025 as against 42,401 units sold in the same month last year, while Hyundai sold 47,727 units last month. However, these figures reflect only domestic sales. Hyundai's sales including exports stood at 58,727 units. The carmaker's exports grew 6.8% to 11,000 units. On the other hand, Mahindra's exports stood at 1,966 units, taking cumulative sales to 52,386 units.

Mahindra and Tata Motors sell over 500,000 vehicles, battle for No. 3 rank in FY2025. Sales of the two OEMs in March will decide who wins in FY2025. With dispatches of a record 503,439 units in the April 2024-February 2025 period, with only 1,470 units separating the two automakers, Mahindra & Mahindra is the new challenger for the No. 3 passenger vehicle OEM position after Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India. Tata Motors, which ranked third in FY2024, has sold 501,969 units in the last 11 months.
