If you do not get your car or bike insured, you will have to pay heavily, you will not even get petrol or diesel

According to the new rules, you cannot buy fuel (petrol or diesel) without valid third-party insurance for your vehicle. You will have to show insurance papers not only for fuel but also for FASTag. This means that if your vehicle has a valid third-party insurance policy, it will have to be linked to FASTag as well. Only if you have third-party insurance proof will you be able to buy fuel and avail other benefits. If you are caught driving on the roads without insurance, you may have to pay a heavy fine.
The government has made it compulsory to show proof of insurance for vehicles to purchase fuel, obtain FASTag and pollution and license certificates.
Third party insurance is mandatory
- Third party insurance has become mandatory for all vehicles in India. This includes two wheelers and four wheelers. Whether you have a car or a bike-scooter, it is necessary to have insurance for them.
- Now it is illegal to drive a vehicle without third party insurance on Indian roads. You may also have to pay a fine for this.
- Third party insurance protects against damage caused to a third party by your vehicle. If you are involved in an accident, your third party insurance can cover the damage caused to the third party.
What does the Motor Vehicle Act say?
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, all vehicles plying on the road must have third-party insurance coverage. The government has also made it compulsory to link FASTag to a valid third-party insurance policy while purchasing new insurance.
Why is it necessary to link with FASTag?
This means that insurance proof will be checked before filling fuel in the vehicle at petrol pumps. Often everything is checked through the FASTag system. In such a situation, insurance will also have to be added to the FASTag.
