Air India Halal Meal: Air India has made a big announcement regarding the Halal certified product. Tata-owned Air India has taken this decision keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, under which Halal food will no longer be served to Hindu and Sikh passengers. With the merger of Vistara with Air India and the multi-fold growth in its operations, the airline company has now made pre-booking of meals mandatory for passengers.

Halal food must be booked in advance

According to the new order of Tata company-owned airline Air India, the halal certificate will now be only for 'Muslim Food' (MoML), which also has to be booked in advance. Only certain areas like Saudi and Hajj flights will have all halal food available. Air India said, "Food labeled with MOML stickers will be given only after pre-booking. Along with this, non-vegetarian food will be halal for the Saudi sector. Apart from this, halal certificates will be given to Jeddah, Dammam, Riyadh, Madinah sectors along with Haj flights.

Order also came regarding Muslim meal

Shortly before, Air India had to face a lot of criticism due to naming Halal Certified Food as Muslim Meal. Now the company has decided that the term 'Air India Special Meal' will be used in place of Muslim Meal, for which advisory has also been issued.

When Air India introduced food called Muslim Meal, there was a lot of opposition. Political parties had also objected to this and it was being alleged that now food is also being distributed among Hindus and Muslims. After this, Tata decided that from now on Halal certified meals will be called Special Meals instead of Muslim Meals.

What did Air India say about this change?

A senior Air India official said, "We have always provided food options for passengers' convenience. Now food service has been streamlined (due to the large size and scale of Air India after the merger of Vistara) and meals have to be booked in advance," he said.
