Budget 2025: The government made people happy, Electric Vehicles will become cheaper because of this

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the budget for the financial year 2025-2026. Many important announcements have been made in the budget to boost the auto sector, as well as many important measures have been proposed to promote EVs. The government aims to promote local manufacturing, make electric vehicles cheaper and at the same time reduce dependence on imports.
The government has decided to remove the basic customs duty (BCD) on key minerals affecting EV batteries. To promote manufacturing at the domestic level, the government has introduced tax incentives in which basic customs duty has been removed from minerals like cobalt powder, zinc, lead, lithium-ion batteries and other scrap. The point to note here is that all these things are very important for making things like semiconductors and batteries.
The government is not only reducing import duty on battery production minerals but also encouraging industry leaders to offer EV batteries at a lower cost. All these important decisions taken by the government will make electric vehicles cheaper overall. Taxes have also been removed on 35 additional items used for EV battery manufacturing and 28 items for mobile phone battery manufacturing.
